Delhi Fire Service has 36 fire stations including headquarters and training center. The Govt. has already conveyed the approval for the construction of fire station at Pai Walan. The proposal for construction at Dwarka, Sector-6 has already been sent to the Govt. and PWD. It is expected that the approval from competent authority will be received shortly with construction work starting during this year.
The Fire Safety Management Academy located at Rohini in an area of 2.5 hectare has been made functional. All the modern fire fighting facilities including simulator will be installed at the training center so as to impart latest fire safety techniques to the trainees. This department will also start the following courses at the above institute.
Fireman Course duration (6 months)-The proposed course will cater to the need of Fire Services in India.
Specialized course for fire Service-Specialised courses such as Breathing Apparatus. Special Appliances course etc. shall also be conducted at the Academy.
Apart from above short duration courses will be run for the employees of Public Sector Undertakings, high rise buildings and Industrial unit etc.
The Delhi Fire Service like previous year has established 3 fire posts for providing fire safety cover to the rural areas. The fire posts started functioning this year from 1st April at the following locations.
Alipur (Shahid Smarak near petrol pump at G.R. Road)
Zaffarpur (Zaffarpur Hospital)
Tikrikalan (Bottling Plant-IOC)
These fire posts will continue to function till the end of the harvesting season i.e. approximately upto 30th June. These fire posts have been provided with wireless communication.
Delhi Fire Service has so far issued NOC, to a total of 573 Nos. of High Rise buildings. A total of 70 high Rise Buildings are yet to be provided with bare minimum facilities. It is also observed that the progress in the Govt. buildings was better than the private buildings.
